Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) was estimated at 6.19 percent in the first seven months of this year, according to the country's General Statistics Office Wednesday. The CPI in July is estimated at 0.94 percent. Among 10 commodities and services used in calculating CPI, the index of prices used to measure the change in the cost of basic goods and services in comparison with a fixed base period, food and foodstuff is estimated to see the highest price hike this month, which is estimated at 1.59 percent. Meanwhile, price of houses and construction materials is forecast to rise 0.73 percent, and the price of entertainment services is to rise 0.27 percent. Vietnam saw CPI of 6.6 percent in 2006.
