Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. plans to sell a small car in India in two years and to build a second factory in the country, news reports said Thursday.
"We are developing a small car which may be launched in India within two years. For this we are looking at all the emerging markets but we might introduce it here," Toyota chairman Fujio Cho told reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of an India-Japan business leadership forum, the Hindustan Times reported.
Cho arrived in India as member of the team of Japan's business executives accompanying Prime Minister Shnizo Abe during his visit to India.
"The new plant may come up in our existing facility itself so that we have additional capacity," said Cho. Toyota has one factory at Bangalore in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
India, Asia's fourth biggest automobile market, is dominated by Suzuki Motor Corp.
