After suffering losses during the March 14 riot, 95% of businesses in Lhasa are resuming now. The Tibetan government exempted 200 million yuan in business and corporate income taxes, according to the news from a press conference held by the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region on May 13.
In order to help business resume, the Tibetan government has launched more than 10 kinds of policies and measures including tax exemptions and loans, providing living allowances and medical aids, and supporting re-employment.
By April 12, 1,002 businesses were confirmed to be affected by the riot, 418 of which filed for tax exemptions. Meanwhile, the Tibetan government supplied living allowances of 1.858 million yuan to 3,573 employees of these businesses; and supplied 1.87 million yuan in unemployment assistance for 1,482 employees of these businesses.
