In the past, it was unimaginable that it could take only 40 minutes to go from the Gongyi Bridge at the south fourth ring road to Yuanmingyuan Park at the north fifth ring road, and the charge is only 2 yuan. Before China's National Holiday, Beijing Subway Line 4 will begin its operation which meets all targets. The Beijing MTR Corporation Limited is in charge of operating the 2 yuan fare for Line 4, which is same as other subway lines in operation in Beijing.
In early 2007, the Beijing Municipal People's Government determined that the 447 bus lines' fares implemented the discounts of 60 percent for common card and 80 percent for student card based on the charges at that time. On October 7, 2007, Beijing's Metro system carried out the single ticket system, the charge per ticket was 2 yuan per person. After those new policies on transportation were carried out, Beijing had become the city which had the lowest charge for buses and subways in China.
Beijing Subway Line 4 is from Gongyixiqiao(south terminus) to Anheqiao North(north terminus).Beijing Development and Reform Commission stated earlier this year that the current low-fare policy of public transportation had played a very important role in regulating the traffic volume and encouraging the development of public transportation and the public also gained benefits. Hence, the current low-fare policy will continue.
