The Rugao Customs of the People’s Republic of China opened in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. At present, the Rugao Port has built 12 10 thousand-ton terminals, and another ten are under construction. The port has 60 million tons of handling capacity. During the 11th Five-year Plan (2006-2010), the Rugao port will build 36 10 thousand-ton terminals, making it a port with 100 million tons of capacity.
From January to May, the total amount of import and export in Rugao city was 622 million USD, up 13.1% year-on-year. The amount of export reached about 403 million USD, an increase of 24.5%. The increase and the total ranked first in Nantong.
