China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said in a statement on its website on September 27 that it has initiated anti-dumping and countervailing investigations into U.S. broiler products and chicken products.
Products involved in the investigation altogether cover twelve tariff items, according to the statement.
An official at the Bureau of Fair Trade for Imports & Exports under MOFCOM said that after reviewing Chinese enterprises' demands for an investigation into U.S. companies' dumping activities and government subsidies, the ministry believed that their demands were in line with China's provisions on anti-dumping and countervailing investigation and initiated the investigation. The ministry will make decisions according to relevant laws and facts.
This marks China's second anti-dumping and countervailing investigation into US products. In August, the MOFCOM launched an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation into grain oriented flat-rolled electrical steel imported from the US.
