Iran's inflation rate increased to 26.4 percent in the Iranian month which ended on June 20, Iran's English-language Press TV reported on Saturday.
"Inflation in the Iranian month of Khordad reached 26.4 percent compared with the same month last year," said a statement by the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).
Strong domestic demand for consumer goods, surging food prices and high housing costs are believed to be the main reasons behind the increase in Iran's inflation, the CBI was quoted as saying.
High excess liquidity and flawed fiscal and monetary polices are seen by many economists as factors adding to the problem of inflation in Iran, Press TV said.
The CBI has set the country's inflation rate at 25.3 percent during the previous Iranian month of Ordibehesht which ended on May 20. Source: Xinhua
