The Indonesian fish exporters delayed to transport fish to the United States due to concerns about the economic situation in the United States, the Indonesian business Daily reported Thursday.
"It is not easy for exporters to switch the markets, particularly to the Middle East countries. We started with Egypt market, as soon as the export volume began to fall," said Herwindo, chairperson of Indonesian Fishery Industry Association (Gappindo).
He said that the Middle East and European countries were backup export destinations for Indonesian fishery industry.
Herwindo did not disclose details about the potential losses Indonesian fish exporters suffered from the export volume decrease. He said Gappindo will give the exact figures in three months. Source:Xinhua
