The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the country's agricultural, forestry, and seafood export is expected to surpass the target by 2.5 billion U.S. dollars to stand at 15 billion U.S. dollars this year, local newspaper the Vietnam News reported Tuesday.
Demand in export markets was likely to increase from now to the end of the year thanks to the ongoing recovery of the global economy and increased consumption ahead of holidays, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).
The Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, scheduled to take effect next month, would likely to help spur exports because it brings advantages in tax rates to 86 percent of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and seafood products exported to Japan, said the MOIT.
Moreover, Spain announced its determination that Vietnamese traand basa fish products reached the European Union food safety and hygiene requirements, creating favorable conditions to increase exports to the Spanish market, said the newspaper.
In the first nine months of this year, Vietnam's export value of agricultural, forestry and seafood products is expected to stand at 11 billion U.S. dollars, down 12 percent year-on-year, said the newspaper.
