S.Korea sees $6.39 bln trade surplus in IT products in October

South Korea posted 6.39 billion U.S. dollars of trade surplus in information technology (IT) products in October, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said in a report on Thursday.
According to a report by the ministry, exports of semiconductors, mobile phones and other IT products reached 12.04 billion dollars in October, up 0.7 percent on-year, while imports posted 5.66 billion dollars, down 10.9 percent on-year.
The October's figure slightly fell 20 million dollars compared to 6.41 billion dollars a month earlier, but it presented as the second-largest monthly tally since the ministry started taking statistics on IT trade in 1996, the report said.
According to the report, exports of semiconductors reached 3.44billion dollars last, up 36.7 percent on-year, and displays reached 2.66 billion dollars, up 10.4 percent on-year, while mobile phones, however, declines to 2.58 billion dollar, down 31.3percent on-year.
The report also noted that exports to China and Hong Kong stood at 5.15 billion dollars last month, followed by the European Union with 1.79 billion dollars and the United States with 1.36 billion dollars.
