Crude oil prices reached a record high of over 110 U.S. dollars Wednesday on the weakening dollar.

Light, sweet crude for April delivery rose 1.17 dollars to 109.92 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after rising to a new trading high of 110.2 dollars.

The dollar weakened throughout the day Wednesday, setting a number of new low marks against the euro and attracting new buyers to the oil market.

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said crude supplies jumped by 6.2 million barrels last week.

The EIA also reported that gasoline supplies rose by 1.7 million barrels last week, well above the expected 300,000 barrel increase, and distillate supplies dropped by 1.2 million barrels, less than the expected 2 million barrel decline.
