Brazil's industrial production up 15% in first 7 months

Brazil's industrial production in the first seven months of this year witnessed a 15-percent year-on-year growth, the country's Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced Tuesday.
The IBGE said that industrial production in July was up 0.4 percent from June, and 8.7 percent year on year.
Of the 27 analyzed sectors, 25 registered growth in July, with the automotive sector seeing the highest growth of 31.4 percent, followed by machinery and equipment, 37.5 percent, and basic metallurgy, 29.8 percent.
Only two sectors -- transportation equipment and tobacco -- reported declines of 5.9 percent and 10.4 percent respectively.
