The euro rose to a record high against the yen in the lower 169 yen zone Thursday in Tokyo.
At 5 p.m. the euro traded at 1.5646-5647 dollars and 169.11-15 yen, against Wednesday's 5 p.m. quotes of 1.5662-5672 dollars and 168.88-98 yen in New York and 1.5561-5564 dollars and 168.03-07 yen in Tokyo.
The dollar was quoted at 108.08-10 yen, compared with 107.77-87yen in New York and 107.96-99 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
It moved between 107.71 yen and 108.19 yen during the day, trading most frequently at 107.97 yen.
