Austria suffers from high inflation

The latest report of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research showed on Wednesday that Austria is experiencing the most serious impact of inflation with inflation rate topping 4 percent in June 2008, the highest since 1992.

Statistic Austria wrote in its report that the aggravation of inflation in the recent year was mainly caused by the price rising of food and energy in the recent year.

In June of 2008, the prices for diesel rose 43 percent over the same period of last year, gasoline by about 20 percent as well.

Over the past year, Austrians were suffering the bitterness of overall price rising in the section of food, especially milk, egg, cereal productions and bread. Prices for cheese rose about 20 percent, egg 13 percent, cereal productions and bread about 11 percent.
