Foxconn's recruitment in Zhengzhou spurs rising salaries

Since the first production line of the Futaihua Precision Electronics (Zhengzhou) Company under Foxconn Group opened on Aug. 2, the company began large-scale recruitment in the human resources market in Zhengzhou, which not only triggered a tide of job-hopping tide among many talents with certain management experience but also absorbed a large number of people who work in other regions.

Xu Juncai, director of the personnel exchange center of Henan Province, said that the number of candidates at the Foxconn special recruitment fair on Aug. 14 exceeded 10,000, with the queue of candidates reaching a length of 1 kilometer.

A recruitment director from Foxconn said that the number of employees at the Zhengzhou Branch will reach over 150,000 at the end of 2011, including thousands of mid-level and senior managers.

Many candidates said that Foxconn pays well and some said the company has a standardized enterprise management. Among the candidates, some had worked at Foxconn Group and some are local residents of Henan Province who work in the Yangtze River or the Pearl River Delta regions.

At the same time, local enterprises were overlooked during their recruitment at the job market. A staff from an electronics firm said that the establishment of the Foxconn branch in Zhengzhou has significantly raised the starting salary for employees in Zhengzhou.

Shi Pu, professor at the Henan University of Economics and Law, said that although Foxconn Group lacks staff management, which led to its employees jumping off buildings, Chinese mainland enterprises still need to learn a lot from the company in terms of enterprise management and employee treatment.

Foxconn Group said they will comprehensively improve the staff management in the Zhengzhou Branch, reversing the adverse effects caused by their employees committing suicide by jumping off buildings and reshape their company's image. During the recruitment process this time, the company also added 70 psychological test questions in addition to general interview questions.
