Chery Automobile Co Ltd, the largest private automaker in China, will recall 3,200 vehicles beginning September 8 due to flawed design that could affect tyre safety, China's quality watchdog announced Tuesday.
The recalled vehicles included only its RIICH X1 series autos with 185/65R15 CHAMPIR0128 tyres manufactured between Dec. 1, 2009, and Jan. 12, 2010, according to a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
The faulty design could cause abnormal friction of front tyres with the chassis distance rods when braking, while sharply turning the steering wheel, the statement warned.
The automaker announced it would repair the flaws at no charge, said the statement. Car owners may contact Chery at hotline number 400-883-8888, contact the AQSIQ by dialing 010-65537365, or visit its website.
