Venezuela, Uruguay advance to quarters of Copa America

Both Venezuela and Uruguay advanced from Group A to the quarterfinals of the Copa America after a scoreless draw on Tuesday.

Prior to the match, hosts Venezuela had secured the ticket thanks to the previous night's results in Group C, and Uruguay only needed a point to advance.

Venezuela topped Group A with five points, followed by Peru andUruguay on four apiece, Peru taking second spot on goal difference. Bolivia were last with two points.

Uruguay are certain to qualify as one of the best two third-placed teams from the three groups

Neither side made much effort to win. And Venezuela had two good efforts in the first half, while Uruguay's only shot on goal came in the 52nd minute.
