Mexico will play Argentina on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Copa America, which ends on Sunday, Mexican daily Reforma siad on Tuesday. Mexico has reached the Copa semis five times but only reached the final twice, losing to Argentina in 1993 and to Colombia in 2001. It looks like a tough match for Mexico: the two teams have played nine times and Argentina has won eight of those matches. The aggregate score is 17 for Argentina and only 10 for Mexico. The most recent clash was in the 2006 World Cup, where Argentina won 2-1 thanks to a memorable goal from Maxi Rodriguez. It was a match famously summed up at the time as "we played better than we ever had and lost as usual". The sports section of Mexican daily Reforma said that while the two teams are more equal than ever before in terms of playing skills, this is not reflected in the market value of their players. The Mexican team is worth 93 million U.S. dollars, while the Argentine team is worth 356 million. Argentina has six players in Spain's first division and two each in the same league divisions in Italy and England. Mexico's current team has only two overseas players: Rafael Marquez, who plays in Spain, and Nery Castillo, who plays in Greece. All the rest play in Mexico.
