Argentine soccer giants River Plate beat English Premier League side Reading 1-0 at the Peace Cup in South Korea on Friday.
River Plate took their lead when Matias Abelairas scored on a free kick from just outside the right corner of the box in the 28th minute.
Reading's best chance came in the 37th minute, when Kevin Doyle's header off a James Harper cross went over the net.
"It was a great game, each team played in their own style," said River Plate manager Daniel Passarella.
"We were able to convert our opportunity for the win."
Passarella, former manager of Argentina's national team, said he was pleased with the way his side dominated the ball throughout the game.
Reading's manager Steve Coppell said his players had trained together for only about 10 days, and had struggled against River Plate, who had played "lovely football."
Reading's Korean player Seol Ki-Hyeon did not dress for the game. Coppell said he hadn't wanted to risk further injury to the player, but that Seol had a good chance of playing on Monday against Lyon.
