France's Fabrice Santoro withdrew from the Los Angeles ATP event after taking his first ATP title in five years on Sunday, complaining of fatigue.
The 34-year-old Santoro defeated countryman Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4 to win the 416,000 dollar Hall of Fame Tennis Championship in Newport, Rhode Island on the weekend. It was his first win since he triumphed in Dubai in 2002.
In first round action here on Monday, Germany's Nicolas Kiefer defeated Teimuraz Gabashvili in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
South Korea's Lee Hyung-taik rolled over American Kevin Kim 6-3, 6-2 and Russian Dmitry Tursunov breezed past Thai Danai Udomchoke 6-1, 6-4.
