Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Canada win rowing golds at Pan American Games |

Cuba took two titles while Chile, Canada and Argentina each won a gold medal in Tuesday's rowing competitions at the 15th Pan American Games.
Maria Jose Orellana and Soraya Jadue of Chile took the title of the women's coxless pair with a winning time of 7 minutes 28.94 seconds.
The silver medal went to Canadian pair of Zoe Hoskins and Nathalie Maurer at 7:30.05, followed by Ruth Stiver and Jennifer Reck of the United States in the third place at 7:36.12.
"We built a strategy to win. We bet on a fine start and we only had to keep the rate of stroke during the rest of the 2000 meters. The strong wind helped us," said Orellana.
The men's coxless pair event was won by Christofer Jarvis and Dan Casaca from Canada. They were timed at 6:34.26.
Jarvis said the race was difficult: "It was challenging to row against so many waves. The Wind, however, was in our favor. We often do our training in rougher waters, but even though we had to concentrate to keep our advantage."
"I much appreciated the experience of representing Canada in Rio de Janeiro. It was my first medal in the Pan American Games. It was thrilling." Jarvis said.
Santiago Fernandez of Argentina won the gold medal of men's single scull event, beating Yoennis Hernandez of Cuba and Marcelus Silva of Brazil to the second and third places respectively.
The other two rowing golds of the day were taken by Cuban rowers. Mayra Gonzalez was crowned in the women's single scull while Edyer Batista and Yunior Perez turned out the winners of men's lightweight double sculls event.
