Fights broke out twice in a men's soccer quarterfinal between Thailand and Mexico at the Bangkok Universiade on Monday.

The match ended with Thailand's 1-0 win over an eight-man Mexico. Thailand also suffered two expulsion in the 98-minute-long match.

Diego Lopez Aguilar of Mexico was sent out on 71 minutes before his teammate Marco Valverde Molna hit Thai goalkeeper Umarin Yaodam at the end of the match.

According to a witness, both players were given red cards and fight broke out among the players, which resulted in one more expulsion from each team, Daniel Rojas Fernandez from Mexico and Wisarut Pannasi from Thailand in the 96th minute.

The witness said that when the match finished, fight once again broke out with players and staff from both teams all involved.

"We are sorry. Everything happened so fast. No one was hurt. We will shake hands and be friends again," said Thai team manager Juta Jingsabhat in a press conference afterwards.

"We want to be a good host," he added.

Thailand will go on to the next round, taking on Ukraine who beat Uruguay 2-1.
