Japan coach Hiroshi Ohashi has expressed his hope of getting three points from defending champions Germany to qualify for the knockout stage of the women's World Cup.
Japan will meet Germany here on Monday in their crucial last group game. They are now level on top of Group A with Germany, both having four points after two games. But as the Germans have hugh advantage in goal difference.
Since England are likely to beat Argentina to add their total points to five, Japan had better to beat Germany to secure a ticket for the quarter-finals.
"We know Germany is a strong team. And the match is very important for us. But we hope to get three points from them and to reach the quarter-finals," said Ohashi at the prematch press conference on Sunday.
Ohashi admitted that Germany enjoyed some physical advantage in height and speed, but insisted Japan have the ability to play them.
"I've heard the pitch in Hangzhou is better than in Shanghai (Japan moved from Shanghai to Hangzhou for the third group match), that will do good to us. We'll try to play our own football. And use our good organization, quickness and fluent passing to beat Germany."
Ohashi said striker Eriko Arakawa's injury is not serious, and can come on the pitch as a starter if tactics need.
"I expect all players on the pitch to score goals (not only the forwards), we are working to score more."
