Svetlana Kuznetsova, ranked second in the world, said on Tuesday that she was quite happy that Russia won the Fed Cup.
"It was quite amazing that we won the Fed Cup. I felt tired during the matches", said the top seed in China Open. "I know that you fought not for yourself, but for your country."
"The Russian team's support gave me much energy. Sometimes I felt tired and down, but when I heard the crowd, I regained my energy again," she added.
Kuznetsova is the defending champion of China Open, and she just helped Russia win its third Fed Cup title.
"I just go out and play, not thinking whether I will win or lose. I think I have a good chance, and I will try my best," she said.
Talking about the Olympic Games, Kuznetsova said: "We will prepare for the Olympic Games carefully. I think we have the chances to win the title."
Kuznetsova just arrived Beijing Tuesday morning for China Open women's games from Sept. 17 to 23. She will meet Abigail Spears of the United States in the second round.
