Second seed Vasilis Mazarakis of Greece rallied to beat Wang Yu from China 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at 2007 ITF Men's Circuit in Beijing on Tuesday.

In the first set Mazarakis was not in the best form. He only got one chance to break but lost three service games. However, the Greek began to find the rhythm in the next two sets, converting four of nine break points opportunities to claim victory.

"I am satisfied with my performance. It is my first game in this event," Mazarakis said, "At first it was a little difficult because my opponent was playing well. He made me play good tennis."

Ranking 279, Mazarakis has had a good 2007 season, winning Australia Futures Circuits 3 and 4. Talking about Mazarakis, Wang Yu said,"Like most of European players, he has an advantage in speed and power. He has played in more international competitions than I have."

Top seed Japanese Go Soeda beat countryman Yuichi Sugita 6-1, 6-1. In the second round he will take on Kim Cheong-Eui of South Korea, who beat Chinese qualifier Gao Lei 6-4, 6-1.

Third seed Chen Ti of Chinese Taipei downed qualifier Liang Shuangqiang from China 6-1, 6-2. Seven-seeded New Zealander Simon Rea was beaten by another Chinese Taipei player Yi Chu-Huan 7-6(4), 6-4.
