American swimmers overpowered their opponents as they claimed three out of the four gold medals on offer here on Sunday at the 25th Universiade.

American Ava Ohlgren triumphed in the women's 400 meters individual medley by four minutes and 40.61 seconds, timing 1.33 seconds ahead of her compariot Lyndsay De Paul. The bronze went to Russian Svetlana by 4:44.26.

The U.S. team also clinched both the gold medals in the men's and the women's 4x100m freestyle relay.

They won the men's 4x100m freestyle relay at 3:14.74, which broke the previous Universiade record of 3:16.06. The Italy team, silver medallist of the event, also broke the record by 3:16.07.

Only the Poland swimmer made a little trouble to the Americans as Przemyslaw Stanczyk overtook American Chad Latourette on the sprint to win the first gold medal in the pool in the men's 400m freestyle by 3:46.72, which was a fresh Universiade record. The American took the silver by 3:46.93.
