China's Lu Yong claims gold in men's 85kg category in weightlifting worlds

Lu Yong of China claimed the gold medal in the men's 85kg category at the world weightlifting championships on Thursday.

Lu, who took the title in 2008 Beijing Olympics, won two gold medals with 175kg in the snatch and a total of 383kg.

The real competition in the snatch came between Lu and Martirosyan Tigran V. of Armenia.

Lu hoisted 170kg and 175kg in his first two attempts, but failed to challenge 177kg in his last attempt, while Martirosyan lifted 172kg in his first attempt, but failed to challenge 176kg later and took the silver.

In the competition of the jerk, Lu succeeded in hoisting 206kg and 208kg in his first two attempts, but failed to lift 211kg in his last attempt. However, Lahun Siarhei of Belarus completed a come-from-behind victory as he succeeded in lifting 209kg in his last attempt and took the gold.

Lahun also claimed the silver with a total of 380kg, and Kuznetsov Vladimir of Kazakhstan took the bronze with a total of 376kg.
