Olympic champion Zou Shiming led a group of nine Chinese boxers to train in Cardiff, Wales for the first time, seeking possibilities of setting up their pre-Olympic training camp in 2012.
The Chinese boxers practiced twice in the Welsh Institute of Sport on Wednesday after arriving here three days ago. According to head coach Zhang Chuanliang, the main purpose of the team was to get used to the environment and weather at the city which has a two-hour journey to London.
"The city is very beautiful and the weather is amicable," said Zhang, "It seems like a city in a forest and our boxers feel comfortable here."
The nine Chinese boxers are from different categories and three of them will compete at WBC Night of Champions international boxing festival while a world united team is going to fight against Team Britain on Friday.
Two-time world champion Zou wouldn't compete at Cardiff but admired the city a lot. "This is the first time that I come here. It has picturesque scenery and comfortable environment. Besides, It's hard to imagine to train in such a quiet place."
