Yao scores season-high 34 points to rally Rockets past Bobcats

Chinese Yao Ming scored a season-high 34 points to rally the Houston Rockets to an 85-82 road win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday.

Yao, who hit 13 of 15 field-goal attempts and all eight free throws, put the Rockets ahead 83-82 with 20.4 seconds left and Mike James added two more free throws to seal Houston's third straight win.

Tracy McGrady scored 12 of his 26 points in the final period to help the visitor rally from a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Matt Carroll scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures for the Bobcats. Jason Richardson and Raymond Felton had 16 points each, Gerald Wallace scored 10 and Emeka Okafor finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Miami Heat and Washington Wizards both won for the first time this season.

The Heat topped the Knicks 75-72 in New York and the Wizards scored a 101-90 road win over the Atlanta Hawks, both teams ending five-game losing streaks.

Miami's Undonis Haslem and Jason Williams combined for the game's final eight points to rally the Heat. Haslem finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds and Williams scored 17. Eddy Curry led New York with 19 points.

Caron Butler scored 24 points and Antawn Jamison had 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Wizards. Josh Smith had 23 points, Joe Johnson 22 and Marvin Williams 20 for Atlanta.

Richard Hamilton's 32 points sparked the Detroit Pistons to a 107-103 road victory over the winless Seattle Super Sonics. Kevin Durant topped Seattle with 19 points.

Manu Ginobili had 21 points and the San Antonio Spurs routed the Milwaukee Bucks 113-88. Mo Williams scored 17 and Yi Jianlian had 13 for Milwaukee.

The New Orleans Hornets crushed the Philadelphia 76ers 93-72 on the road. David West and Chris Paul each scored 16 points. Andre Iguodala contributed 17 for Philadelphia.
