Yao Ming had 30 points and 16 rebounds but the Houston Rockets failed to keep the advantage in the last minutes of a 87-82 loss to New Orleans Hornets on Monday.
Yao had six turnovers, one on a controversial steal by Tyson Chandler in the fourth quarter that Yao said was a foul. "A superstar is supposed to get calls and he doesn't get the calls," Adelman said. "Simple as that."
Chris Paul had 19 points, 11 assists and six turnovers, and he made four free throws in the final 15 seconds to lift the New Orleans Hornets to a victory, New Orleans' seventh consecutive road victory.
"We know what to do in the last six minutes of a game," Paul said.
"He (Paul) kind of controls how they play," Houston coach Rick Adelman said.
The Hornets are 15-5 on the road this season, already matching last year's win total away from home.
New Orleans coach Byron Scott said: "These guys are young and when we get on the road, it's just us, so they seem to really focus a lot better."
The Rockets lost for the third time in the 10 games Tracy McGrady has missed with a sore left knee. McGrady is expected to return for a game against San Antonio. Alston had 12 points and seven assists for the Rockets. Bonzi Wells returned to the lineup and scored six points for the Rockets.
David West scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Hornets, who snapped the Rockets' five-game winning streak. The Hornets have won seven of the last nine meetings with Houston, a divisional rival.
