The Houston Rockets routed the Southwest Division-leading New Orleans Hornets 100-80 in New Orleans on Friday for their 11th consecutive victory.
Tracy McGrady had 34 points and Yao Ming added 28 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets, who moved within three games of the Hornets.
"We feel we're playing as well as anybody in the league right now, and we want to show that we can continue to do that by playing the best team and getting a win," Rockets coach Rick Adelman told reporters.
Yao said: "It means a lot to us that we can beat them on the road and also keep the winning streak, and the 10-(game) winning streak on the road.
"I think our team is a great team right now, with great chemistry," he added.
The Rockets' streak has moved them into seventh place in the Western Conference.
