Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz has signed a two-year contract with Malaga to take over the post left by former coach Antonio Tapia, the Spanish Primera Liga club said on Thursday.
It will be the second spell of Muniz, who was released from his contract with Racing Santander last week, as he led the club to promotion in the 2007-2008 season.
Former coach Tapia quit at the end of the season to take charge at relegated Real Betis.
Malaga finished eighth in the standings last term and Racing were 12th.
