German soccer powerhouse Dortmund beat Bundesliga bottom term Berlin 2-0 on Friday.
Berlin grinded out a draw against defending champion VfL Wolfsburg last week after they had lost five time in row, while Dortmund earned 7 points out of last 3 matches.
Both teams staged a plain performance in the beginning stage. As the match progressed, Hertha handed over control to Dortmund. Hertha was pressed into defense after two dangerous free kick opportunities.
At the 18th minute, the hosts had their first real opportunity of the game, Lucas Barrios heading just over the crossbar as he searched to continue his recent goal scoring form. Mohammed Zidan then fired wastefully into the stands on 33 minutes when he really should have at least tested Hertha goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny.
Die Schwarzgelben finally broke the deadline at the 59th minute. Gojko Kacar grappled Dortmund defender Patrick Owomoyela to the ground in the box during a Zidan corner, leaving referee Felix Brych no choice but to award a penalty. Turkish youngster Nuri Sahin stepped up to send Drobny the wrong way and put Borussia Dortmund ahead by a goal to nil.
At the 74th minute, yet another chance fell to Piszczek, but like before, he was unable to take advantage. This time, the ball fell to the Pole just inside the box, Piszczek trying to curl the ball past Weidenfeller, but his effort crashed against the outside of the right post.
It was to prove to be a very costly miss; during the first minute of injury time, Lucas Barrios scored to settle the contest. The Argentinian swivelled around Arne Friedrich inside the box and fired past Drobny to put the game to bed for Dortmund.
The side from the capital fall to their ninth defeat in ten games in the league, and Friedhelm Funkel must still wait for his side to add a second victory to the opening day triumph against Hannover 96.
Incidentally, Hertha are still yet to pick up a single point away from home so far this season.
