Marta and Cristiane celebrate FIFA's nomination to MVP

Two of Brazil's best products of women's soccer, Marta and Cristiane, were nominated on Friday by FIFA to compete for the award of the world's most valuable female soccer player. Marta looks to win her fourth straight title.
Both Marta and Cristiane are members of the first ever women's Libertadores Cup title, winning the championship with Santos. The two athletes, also members of the Brazilian national soccer team, will be up against eight other candidates from throughout the globe.
"I am thrilled to be able to participate once again in the nomination. I hope that I was able to catch the attention of the members of the commission during my performance in the United States as well as with my participation in winning the Libertadores Cup with Santos," declared Marta.
Cristiane was named the third best player in 2008. Her play waskey to Santos' success in the Libertadores Cup. Santos is currently playing in the Brazilian Cup.
FIFA's selection of the women's most valuable player of the 2009 season will be made on December 21. The world-wide authority in soccer will also announce on that same day the men's MVP, in which Kaka hopes to re-attain his title from 2007.
