Lanus clinched a 1-0 victory over River Plate in the Monumental stadium of Buenos Aires in the 12th round of the Argentine soccer championship.
Forward Maximiliano Velazquez scored the lone goal on 31 minutes. After the match, Lanus collected a total of 17 points, 10more than River.
River, coached by Leonardo Astrada, has only bagged two victories in 12 matches.
Earlier, Chacarita (8) and Argetninos (20) tied 2-2 in Diego Maradona stadium, with goals for Chacarita by Cristian Grabinski and Facudo Parra on 31 and 68 minuteds respectively, and for Argentinos by Nicolas Pavlovich (m 60) and Mauro Bogado (m 90).
