Ronaldo scored twice but Corinthians could only managed a 2-2 tie with Palmeiras in the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship on Sunday.
The result allowed Palmeiras to retake the leadership from Sao Paulo in the standings with only five rounds remaining in this year's competition.
Ronaldo scored his first goal in the 39th minute. Handling a penalty kick, the star striker calmly sent the ball into the back of the Palmeiras net.
Palmeiras responded in the 51st minute as Danilo headed in a Figueroa cross to tied the match.
Ronaldo returned to light up the scoreboard in the 65th minute when he dribbled past the defense, fooling Bruno and blasting the ball with his left foot into the visiting team's net.
Palmeiras scored the equalizer in the 84th minute when Mauricio tapped in a pass from Figueroa.
Sunday's result was not exactly what Palmeiras had in mind, but the point gained due to the tie brings the team back into the leadership position. Palmeiras and Sao Paulo are tied on 58 points but Palmeiras holds the advantage based on goals scored.
Corinthians dropped to 10th place with 46 points.
