International footballer Obua boosts Uganda Cranes

Uganda Cranes have been boosted by the recovery of Scotland-based winger David Obua ahead of the weekend home tie in the 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier against tricky Angola.

Obua, who has been a regular scorer for the Cranes has been out injured and only featured for his team Hearts in the Scottish League on Sunday.

"I have named Obua on the 24-man squad because I am told he is better," said Cranes coach Bobby Williamson after training on Monday.

Obua together with Serbia-based defender Nestory Kizito had been ruled out because of injury, but the player made an appearance as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against rivals Dundee United on Sunday.

"I am feeling much better and hoping to be in Uganda for that crucial group opener," Obua said on facebook after the Dundee game on Sunday night.

Cranes skipper who also captains Salzburg in the Austrian League Ibrahim Sekagya will arrive in Kampala on Tuesday.

The Angola national team led by former Manchester United striker Goncalves Manucho is expected in Kampala on Thursday ahead of Saturday game at Namboole stadium.

Uganda is grouped together with Angola, Guinea Bissau and archrivals Harambee Stars of Kenya. The East African country last qualified for the continent's biggest tournament in 1978 when they lost to hosts Ghana in the final.

Uganda's squad include Dennis Onyango, Hamza Muwonge, Ronald Odongkara, Simeon Masaba, Andy Mwesigwa, Ibrahim Sekagya, James Owino, Geoffrey Walusimbi, Dan Walulya, Vincent Kayizzi, Dan Wagaluka, Steven Bengo, Sula Matovu, Tony Mawejje, Patrick Ochan, Hassan Wasswa, Owen Kasule, Mike Sserumaga, David Obua, Brian Umony, Geoffrey Massa, Robert Ssentongo, Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Musa Mudde.
