Ministry of Education and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security jointly offered a week-long online consultancy service on employment for graduates starting April 13.
Officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Communist Youth League and PLA Headquarters of the Central Staff as well as teachers from colleges and universities are expected to offer explanation on government's rules and regulations and take questions from the graduate jobless.
It is another major measure to help college and university graduates find jobs.
The State Council and other relevant departments have pledged all-out efforts to promote employment for graduates, such as encouraging graduates to find jobs in SMEs in middle and western regions and to take part in the volunteer services for Western Development, recruiting graduates in major sci-tech programs and so on.
College graduates are valuable human resources and governments at various levels and related departments should give top priority to the employment of graduates with more innovative measures.
From November 2008 till now, the Ministry of Education and another seven related departments have held ten online job fairs for this year's graduates, which attracted 17,000 employers and offered some 400,000 job vacancies. So far, human resource departments at provincial levels and colleges and universities across the country have held some 63,000 job fairs for graduates.
The Chinese Communist Youth League has taken a series of measures to promote employment for graduates, namely, setting up 4,083 employment bases which offer 121,646 probation opportunities; cooperating with China Banking Regulatory Commission to grand small loans which could boost employment in rural areas; Chinese Communist Youth League and youth leagues at provincial levels working closely on the establishment of employment bases.
Meanwhile, the measures also call on graduates to work in rural areas, in grassroots urban communities, and in smaller enterprises, asking research institutions to recruit graduates, and step up support for graduates starting up their own businesses.
Although various measures have been taken to ensure employment for graduates, the employment situation for them remains grave. More than six million college students will leave school in less than three months, and one million from last year are still seeking jobs.
Government organs, government-sponsored institutions, state-owned enterprises and even small and medium-sized and private companies are urged to hire as many people as in previous years, particularly college graduates.
Governments at various levels all come up with measures to promote employment for graduates. In Heman province, local government held over 500 job fairs for this year's graduates, which offered a total of 100,000 job opportunities. In Jiangxi province, local human resources department will provide 30,000 graduates who are yet to find jobs with three to six months long probation opportunities. In Hebei province, local government promises to set up 100 places where nearly 10,000 graduates could do fieldwork. In Chongqing Municipalities, local government plans to kick off a talent pool plan that can recommend 13,000 graduates to state-owned enterprises, almost doubling last year's figure.
