On April 22, a PD Online user "anglejj" posted avideo titled "2008 China Stands Up," which appeals to all Chinese people unite against any intentions to differentiate, separate and destroy China. The video ends with a statement: "We will stand up and hold together always as one family in harmony."
Many more readers left messages to express their confidence and determination to develop China into a stronger and independent nation; and hope China can be a defender of peace for the rest of the world.
The messages are as follows:
"I am not an overseas Chinese, but I have made at least 75 business trips to China in the past 20 years. China has made so much progress and I am so proud of China and to be associated with China factories, and their staff. The US media speaks not from experience or history, but from just copying other bylines and stories without doing research and understanding the subject at hand. Do not be offended. The media does not represent us."
"It is important for all people within China, just as for the many different groups of people in America, to live in peace and harmony. This appears to be the aim of the Chinese government. It has offered affirmative programs and heavy subsidies for its minority groups."
"This world has no justice, the only thing matters is power, George Bush gave a bad lesson to the world by launching the Iraq war and teaches the rest of the world: Power is everything. China will rise much sooner then the West thinks, and I hope China will be a super power to defend the rest of the world peace to avoid any kind of ‘Iraq war' happens again."
"To love our country, to flame out this deep love, we have to use our knowledge, talent, and our heart! So, don't do anything that will decline our image in the world while every individual action is taken!"
"As CNN has shown no professional ethics, I shall fully support Chinese government's actions if it decides to close down all CNN offices in China and disallow their reporters operating in China."
