Under the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the PLA General Staff Headquarters and the PLA General Political Department, China's 67 military academies of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) will recruit 20,000 high school graduates this year in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and soldiers of troop units as well as enroll more than 8,000 national defense students from 93 universities and colleges in 2011, according to the news from the admissions office of the PLA.
According to regulations of the PLA Admission Office, the enrollment candidates must sit this year's National College Entrance Examination or PLA soldier recruitment tests on military and cultural subjects. The regular high school graduates of the year shall be no more than 20 years old (up to August 31 of the year), and the soldier candidates should be no more than 22 (up to January 1 of the year). All candidates shall meet physical and political standards for cadets of military academies/universities, and the marital status shall be single.
Those soldiers who have fulfilled higher education and registered in the Ministry of Education are exempted from the test for soldiers with high school education. They can sit military professional tests for the selection of officers and pilot cadets or enter military academies without sitting the entrance examination as outstanding soldiers.
Cadets admitted into the PLA and APF academies/universities and the national defense students admitted into regular colleges and universities will mostly pursue four- or five-year undergraduate study. Only a small proportion of undergraduate and graduate cadets in the three military medical universities will study for eight straight years. Some 95 percent of soldiers are enrolled for college education, while only a small number of soldiers of maintenance and guard service specialties receive junior college education.
After four years of regular college education and basic military and political training, the junior commanding officers will be organized to attend 10-month-long post-oriented training in the corresponding post-oriented educational academies/universities and then be assigned to take their posts in troop units.
According to sources, the admissions office of PLA will publish candidates' examination and recruitment information and receive social supervision by various means, including establishing a hotline. The examinees can also inquire about test scores by the telephone. The number of the telephone is 0201-736801(military line)、010-66736801(local line. They can also find their test results online. The website is http://www.zz . The query time of test scores is from July 10 to July 31, and the query time of recruitment is from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31.
