South Korea saw its monthly exports of information technology (IT) goods reach a record high of 12.63 billion U.S. dollars in October, the South Korean Ministry of Information and Communication said on Friday in a report.
According to the report, South Korea's export of IT goods in October rose 21.5 percent from a year earlier. The imports of IT goods grew 22.3 percent on-year to 6.31 billion dollars, bringing the nation's IT trade surplus to 6.32 billion dollars.
The report attributed the rise of IT exports to increased working days in October when it was compared to the same period of last year, which included the three-day "Chuseok" fall harvest holiday, the ministry said. This year, the holiday fell in September and there was strong demand for mobile phones in overseas market.
