Netizens only have to type in the URL "Xujinglei.cn" (in Chinese characters) to go directly to Xu Jinglei's fan page "Jingmeng." Even if one mistakenly types in the English period "." instead of the Chinese period "。," Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) will still navigate to the same website.
Recently, Market News reporters at the "Chinese CN2008 China Tour" exhibition jointly held by Microsoft, CNNIC, and Net.cn saw that Microsoft's trial version of IE8 directly supports Chinese language CN domain names. It is reported that this was Microsoft's first time publicly exhibiting the new special features of the trial version of the IE8 browser in China.
The IE8 address field not only supports Chinese language CN domains without any obstacles, but allows users to add, display, and visit these domains in their "Favorites" and "History" as well as to visit hyperlinks of Chinese CN domain support pages. An announcement by a Microsoft representative at the exhibition was a cause for excitement for the small and mid-sized companies in attendance. The representative said, "We are working on systems and browsers that permanently support RFC3743, RFC4713 and other global standards for Internet domains."
