According to Shenyang Evening, a few days ago, a robot which the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the China Academy of Sciences has been involved in developing, successfully passed its first test during the country's ongoing 24th Antarctic expedition. This marks a new stage in China's polar expedition robot research and application development.
The "snow-mobile robot" weighs more than 200 kilograms, and it has successfully completed tests of mobility, adaptability to the environment, waterproof capacity, and measuring glaciers. The "low-flying robot," which weighs about 20 kilograms, successfully conducted two 15-minute rounds of 25-km low-altitude flight at the height of 150 meters. It successfully completed sea ice temperature exploration, aerial flight, and other expedition tasks.
