Indonesia to take part in int'l robotics contest in India

Indonesia will take part in an international robotics contest scheduled to be held in Pune, India, on Aug. 31.

The director general of higher education of the National Education Ministry Fasli Jalal said here on Tuesday that the ministry has cooperated with the University of Indonesia to prepare for the contest.

Indonesia national Robotics Contest 2008 is planned to be held in June 14-15 in Jakarta. The winner will represent Indonesia to go to India.

According to the requirements of the contest, each team consist of three students and a lecturer that have to design, assemble and operate one manual and maximum three automatic robots with a total weight of less than 50 kg and no more than 24 volt of power.

As many as 20 teams from a number of countries will participate in the contest.
