Sid Ganis was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hold the annual Oscar awards, the Beverly Hills-based group announced Wednesday.
The Academy's Board of Governors chose Ganis to serve a third consecutive term as president during its meeting Tuesday night.
"I'm truly honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve as president of the Academy," Ganis said in a statement. "There are so many interesting projects going on in the organization. I'm excited to have the chance to help steer those along and to bring even more to our wide-reaching agenda."
Ganis has been a governor of the Academy's Public Relations Branch for 21 years. Prior to founding Out of the Blue Entertainment in 1996, Ganis held various positions at Sony Pictures, including vice chairman at Columbia Pictures and president of worldwide marketing for Columbia/Tri-Star Motion Picture Companies.
Previously, Ganis was a senior vice president with Lucasfilm Ltd.
In addition, Robert Rehme, an Executives Branch governor and past Academy president, was re-elected first vice president.
Actors Branch governor Tom Hanks was elected to a vice president post. Hanks previously served one term each as vice president and treasurer.
Music Branch governor Charles Bernstein was also elected to a vice president post, while Producers Branch governor Hawk Koch was elected treasurer and Short Films and Feature Animation Branch governor Jon Bloom was elected secretary, according to the Academy.
