Singapore's Health Ministry on Tuesday confirmed that a Chinese lady died from dengue disease last week, the seventh death from the disease in the country this year.
The latest victim was a 53-year old Chinese lady who came down with fever, body ache, lethargy and rash on Sept. 2, the ministry said in a statement.
She was treated for viral fever at a company clinic and a polyclinic before being admitted to Changi General Hospital for weakness and chest pain.
Blood tests showed the lady was infected with dengue and her condition deteriorated very rapidly. She passed away last Friday with the cause of death determined as dengue shock syndrome, the statement said.
The health authorities advises the public to seek medical attention immediately if they feel unwell and have a fever.
Singapore has reported thousands of dengue cases since the beginning of this year, and the first death from dengue disease was found in April.
