The European Union (EU) has offered Angola one million euros for the execution of a project fighting against HIV/AIDS in Angola's southern Cunene province.
Carlos Alberto Bessa, coordinator of the project, told reporters Tuesday that the project has resulted in a satisfactory change in the social and sexual behavior after it was implemented for half a year.
"More and more people are now aware of the danger of HIV/AIDS and orphans whose parents died of the disease are being assisted by government and non-government organizations," he said.
Under the project, he added, a training course has been run to enrich grassroots medical workers with knowledge on prevention and control of HIV/AIDS.
A total of 150 people working in local communities, mainly in rural areas, have been trained in mobilization, awareness and prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, he said.
The coordinator said the project which started in the southern Cunene province last February will last four years with a view to improving the living quality of people living with HIV/AIDS.
