"Beijing Parkour", a book jointly published by Goethe-Institut China, Yishi workshop and SDX Joint Publishing Company, shows the world a particular Beijing through a new field of vision.

The book is produced by a big group that includes Chinese, foreigners, researchers and students. They use "Parkour" as a way to discover Beijing. It records the writers' on-the-way observations of Beijing's 18 districts.

Parkour, known as Le Parkour or PK for short, is about moving, moving in a way in which you don't let anything stop you - moving through your environment and overcoming any obstacles that come in your path.

Parkour is the art of forward movement. Being able to interact with your environment, it's being able to get from one place to another in the most efficient quickest way possible. This involves running, jumping, vaulting, and climbing obstacles in natural or urban environments to get to your destination in the quickest time.

Different from other books describing Beijing, the book "Beijing Parkour" combines city coordinates with cultural elements in Beijing, and gives readers an approachable way to discover Beijing. It is just like a friend that has been to Beijing telling you something interesting about the city.

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Goethe-Institut Peking, the book has been contributed as a gift for Beijing to express gratitude.
