During the Golden Week holiday, more than 15 million domestic and international tourists entered Beijing for travel. This resulted in a new high tourism revenue of 5.39 billion yuan, a 3.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Some 8 million tourists visited Tian'anmen Square, exceeding the number that visited during the Golden Week holiday in 2008. According to statistics, over 9.5 million tourists have visited 203 tourist attractions in Beijing.

Due to the celebrations and performances related to the National Day parade celebrating 60th anniversary of the founding of new China, more tourists chose to visit the capital this year. In addition, the International Tourism Cultural Festival held in Chaoyang Park hosted 329,000 tourists, an increase of 71.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

Beijing's reopened Qianmen Street, Shunyi Flower Fair, and Olympic Green were popular destinations during this year's Golden Week holiday.

Agencies and Li Ming contributed to this story.
