Disinfection works will begin this week at the French school of Antananarivo following several cases of the A/H1N1 flu proved at this school.

According to information collected from the school, the disinfection work followed the awareness day to the parents and students on Friday when representatives of the Madagascan Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the French schools.

School officials encouraged students to meet hygiene such as washing hands many times to reduce the risk of contamination of the virus.

The campaign is aimed at strengthening vigilance of students at the school on the A/H1N1 flu, according to information from the French school.

Madagascar institute of Pasteur jointly cooperates with the ministry and the French school to prevent the spread of the flu.

A total of 68 cases of the A/H1N1 flu have been proven at the French school of Antananarivo on Friday, and 16 others found in other places in Madagascar have been fully recovered, according to information from the Ministry of Health.

The Madagascar's ministry of Health also has released since Friday three hotlines to alert the medical team formed by the government to take over the management of the flu in possible clinical sign.

A government hospital in the city center Befelatanana hospital has been made available for those who want to be tested.

The first case of the A/H1N1 flu was detected in Madagascar on Aug. 13.
